General Rules

Case does not matter
Noise words (common words in the English language - such as: is, the, a, etc) and numbers are always ignored

Logical Operations: Use combinations of AND, OR, AND NOT, and () to perform logical operations

account AND password finds matching rows that contain both the word ACCOUNT and PASSWORD
account AND (password OR user name) matches must contain the word ACCOUNT but also either PASSWORD or USERNAME
pasUNITY AND NOT "pasUNITY web*" matches must contain pasUNITY but cannot contain phrase starting with pasUNITY WEB

Generational Terms: Finds words regardless of generation or tense in various inflection forms

FORMSOF(INFLECTIONAL, n) Locates items where n is the word stem to search for
FORMSOF(INFLECTIONAL, run) Finds any form of the word run: runs, run, ran, running, etc.

Prefix Terms: Quoted word or phrase with an * in place of the unknown portion

"port*" Matches and word (regardless of location) beginning with the letters PORT
"portal mod*" Matches any phrase beginning with the letters PORTAL MOD

Proximity Terms: Used to find matching data items where words or phrases are in high proximity to each other

x NEAR y Finds matches where the word represented by x is close to the word represented by y
portal NEAR dashboard The best matches have the fewest words or syllables between the two words

Weighted Terms:Used to locate combinations of words or phrases with varying degrees of importance

account AND password Finds matches where words A and B carry a weight of A% and B% respectively
Default weight (if not entered) is 1.0 and weights must be between 0.0 and 1.0 or an exception occurs
ISABOUT(account WEIGHT(1.0), password WEIGHT(.2)) Returns matches giving a higher importance to ACCOUNT but still requiring PASSWORD
ISABOUT(account, password WEIGHT(.2)) Returns matches giving a higher importance to ACCOUNT (default of 1.0) but still requiring PASSWORD
