How does pasUNITY protect the solution's data?
 
pasUNITY uses a hybrid backup solution that incorporates the speed and granularity of disk media based Progressive incremental backups with the resilience of LTO tape media based Grandfather, Father, Son (GFS) backups.  Utilizing Microsoft's System Center Data protection manager as our backup engine, we combine these two discrepant backups methodologies so that we may leverage the unique benefits of each.
 
What do we gain with our hybrid Progressive/GFS approach? 

• We gain increased point in time restore granularity due to the incremental nature of our disk backups.
• We gain performance in our short term backups, as both reading and writing backups on redundant arrays of disks media is magnitudes  faster than tape. 
• We have improved backup integrity, as the backup engine continually monitors data integrity between source data and disk destination.  Data integrity between source and destination is also verified during tape backups.
• We have accurate monitoring, quick remediation, and self-healing capability by leveraging Microsoft System Center Operations manager to monitor the Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager engine.
• We keep the security of long term backups on resilient tape media, and the security of that media residing offsite in a secure access controlled location in the case of large scale disaster.
