While regular monthly maintenance and tuning never stops it has been several years since we have performed major upgrades of our network infrastructure hardware.  This year we are updating our network infrastructure hardware including our core switching, routing, firewall, and unified threat management appliances.

Our last major upgrade project was back in 2018 when we installed best-in-class firewall and switching appliances to protect our data center infrastructure and customer workloads.  While these products have not quite yet entered end of life we are proactively replacing them with newer, more capable devices. This year we have already implemented changes to our switching infrastructure to move to higher capacity and more modern devices and to pave the way for our routing and firewall upgrade.  Our next and final phase will be the replacement of our production routers/firewalls with next-generation firewall appliances that offer stronger VPN, encryption, anti-virus, anti-spam, intrusion prevention, segmentation, redundancy, processing power, zero-day threat prevention, and a host of Operational Technology (OT) security features and enhancements including (but not limited to) web, DNS, SaaS, and data leak prevention.
