Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When I run pasTransfer the source or destination connection I want to use does not appear in the list of available connection types.  What do I do?

A: You must install a license file to enable functionality for most sources and destinations.  Licensing instructions can be found here.

Q: When I run pasTransfer as myself everything works fine.  When I schedule my job to run as another user it fails.  What happened?

A: The problem is most likely related either to permissions or licensing.  When pasTransfer is licensed per-user any attempt to run the job via automated means must impersonate the registered user.  Licensing instructions can be found here.  If licensing is not the issue it is likely that the account running pasTransfer does not have permissions to the pasTransfer program files, data sources, or registry keys.

Q: When running pasTransfer in Shared Configuration Mode some users can see the shared configurations created by others and some cannot.  How do I fix this?

A: On Windows Vista and newer clients or Windows Server 2008 and newer servers Microsoft introduced a registry virtualization feature which can interfere with pasTransfer for non-administrative users.  To circumvent registry virtualization for pasTransfer add FULL CONTROL permissions for the EVERYONE group (or other appropriate group/user) to the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Professional Accounting Solutions, Inc.\pasTransfer for 32-bit machines and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Professional Accounting Solutions, Inc.\pasTransfer for x64 machines.

Q: When pasTransfer imports data from a source all of the row amounts are for $1.00.  What happened?

A: The selected source is being run in limited mode (a demonstration feature) and the amounts will always be $1.00 until a license is purchased that activates the full functionality.  Details can be found here.

Q: When pasTransfer exports data to a destination all of the row amounts are for $0.00.  What happened?

A: The selected destination is being run in limited mode (a demonstration feature) and the amounts will always be $0.00 until a license is purchased that activates the full functionality.  Details can be found here.
