The File Viewer module is used to upload, download, edit meta data, and delete files within File Drops; as defined by the File Manager module.
This module functions outside the realm of the normal permissions hierarchy. Permissions are managed by administrative users with the File Manager module.
This module requires specific configuration prior to use in the Module Settings editor. Please see the File Viewer Configuration page for configuration instructions and the File Manager module for instructions on how to define File Trees, File Drops, and File Views.
The File Viewer is used to store files in a centralized location. The module is restricted to a single root File Tree but can be configured to display any number File Views defined within a File Tree.
In addition to module configuration, the end user must have been explicitly granted permission to a File View to use it.
File Drops are the storage units that end users will primarily interact with in the File Viewer. File Drops are assigned to File Views. The end user must have been explicitly granted permission to a File Drop to see it in a File View. A single File Drop may belong to multiple File Views.
To download files from the File Viewer module you expand the File View and child File Drop using the +/- buttons until you find the file you want. You can then click the button to view details about the file. To download the file click the name of the file and file will be downloaded to your browser.
To download files from the File Viewer module you expand the File View and child File Drop using the +/- buttons until you find the folder you want. Then click the button to open the upload dialog. You will be prompted to describe the file being uploaded and optionally add notes. Use the Browse button navigate to the file that you would like to upload and click Open. Finally, click the button to upload the file.
To edit or delete files from the File Viewer module you expand the File View and child File Drop using the +/- buttons. Click the button to edit the file. Click the button to save changes. If you click the button the file will be deleted. Clicking the button will cancel the edit.
