pasControl: Remote Desktop Management
pasControl is a remote access and management tool designed for multiple audiences.
For system administrators pasControl is designed to consolidate Remote Desktop connections to all systems in an enterprise into a single console that can be accessed from a local workstation for the purpose of remote administration. Administrators can create connections to Remote Desktop servers, network switches, SAN storage, firewalls, etc. Users define hosts for connection via Remote Desktop, monitoring via ICMP ping, or URL based access. The pasControl application places all of these resources into an easy-to-use navigation pane to enable administrators to quickly switch between connections and not clutter up their task bar with multiple copies of web browsers and RDP sessions. The application also boasts ease of configuration and password management in a portable, encrypted database.
For power users that need to work in a remote desktop environment that is comprised of multiple servers pasControl allows users to easily toggle between active connections and selectively access local resources in the remote environment (such as drives and printers).
For sales persons and trainers pasControl allows you to aggregate links to all of your training/marketing material and remote connections for product demonstrations into a single application which can be easily shared when using popular web meeting software as opposed to sharing your entire desktop. This allows the user to ensure that everything they need for a successful session is exposed to their audience while at the same time giving them the freedom to work privately in other applications.
For a support team or help desk pasControl allows technicians to connect to and shadow user sessions in Remote Desktop environments to easily assist clients in hosted environments (servers or even workstations) with problems.

pasControl works by automating the user's default web browser and Remote Desktop Client software to create a user-friendly environment that allows them to work quickly and efficiently without losing track of where they are and what they are doing.
To begin a user installs the pasControl application and its prerequisites on a host. Installation is a simple process that can be completed in mere seconds.
Now each end-user uses the graphical user interface to configure program settings. Begin by creating DNS or NETBIOS host entries for each system that they wish to connect to using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) or monitor using ICMP Ping. Now create account entries for RDP hosts using UPN (user-principal name) or distinguished name notation and passwords. Add a URL to the favorites collection for resources accessed using common TCP/IP URI based protocols. Finally, create specific connections to hosts and configure them with desired connection options.
