Common modules are similar to administrative modules in how they are created and configured through the tab designer and permissions for all users are typically determined by the standard permissions hierarchy or by configuration performed globally in specialized administrative modules.

Common modules can typically be placed on tabs and fully configured by any users with Full Control permission to the tab. These modules often expose editing capabilities also tied to the standard permission hierarchy.
